Midwifery Competency-Based Education in Suriname
On March 27-28, 2014, ten midwives participated in a workshop on Midwifery Competency-Based Education (CBE) held in Paramaribo, Suriname. The workshop leaders were Filia Macnack and Georgetina Eillioth, and the master teacher observer was ICM Board Member, Irene dela Torre. Both Filia and Georgetina have met the requirements to be CBE Trainers and will continue to implement trainings for the other midwives in Suriname to improve the health outcomes for their mothers and babies. This trip was a follow-up of the CRMA sponsored training of trainers for CBE held in Trinidad last October.
