Mary reading NGO statement at WHO meeting in TurkeyDuring the session, Ms Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe since 2010, met with the NGO delegates to discuss their concerns regarding their invisibility at the Regional meetings. Ms Jakab suggested that delegates write a joint statement that could be presented on the final day of the meeting. In the event, eleven NGOs delegates prepared a statement acknowledging Ms Jakab’s courtesy in meeting with the NGOs and reaffirming their willingness to collaborate with the Regional Committee and Member States in developing and implementing policies. The NGOs believe that collaboration between all parties will positively affect health outcomes for European populations. The statement was delivered by the ICM delegate, Mary Higgins.
