We can defeat MALARIA by joining hands with communities
Today is 25 April 2019, a day we celebrate World Malaria Day with the theme “End Malaria For Good”.
As a midwife, I join all communities to “Raise my hand to #Defeat Malaria” for the sake of our mothers, babies and children who are vulnerable and yet so important for socio-economic development.
Together, we can Defeat MALARIA by our simple every day actions.
We can defeat MALARIA by joining hands with communities to clean our homes and environments and rid them of dirt and all empty containers that collect water and breed mosquitoes
We can Defeat MALARIA by mounting long lasting insecticide-treated bed nets (LLINs) in our rooms and open spaces and sleeping in them every night.
We can Defeat MALARIA by using mosquito screens at our windows and fixing trap doors to keep out the mosquitoes from our rooms
We can Defeat MALARIA by encouraging pregnant women to visit their Antenatal Clinics to complete their directly observed therapy for intermittent prevention of malaria.
Again we can Defeat MALARIA by reporting early to the clinic when our children develop fever. Early treatment seeking behavior at the very first signs of the infection is key to effective malaria prevention and treatment.
Together let us END MALARIA FOR GOOD! Help protect communities especially mothers and children against malaria. Malaria remains a leading cause of death and illness in endemic continents such as Africa.
