Shape the Future of Midwifery: Submit Your Abstract for the ICM 34rd Triennial Congress!

The International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) is excited to announce the opening of abstract submissions for the 34th ICM Triennial Congress, set to take place in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2026. With the theme “One Million More Midwives,” this Congress will bring together midwives, researchers, educators, and partners from around the world to share knowledge, discuss innovative practices, and strengthen the global midwifery profession.
We invite submissions for oral presentations, posters, workshops, and the three-minute presentation competition, covering a wide range of topics relevant to midwives and midwifery. This is your opportunity to showcase your work, engage with a global audience, and contribute to shaping the future of midwifery.
Abstract Categories
Submissions must fall into one of the following categories:
- Sharing midwifery research results – Abstracts should describe research studies, including background, objectives, methods, results, and key messages for midwifery.
- Sharing midwifery knowledge and experience – Abstracts may present case studies, innovative practices, theoretical discussions, or personal midwifery experiences. Evidence and references should be provided where relevant.
Topics for Submission
Abstracts should align with the Congress theme and focus on midwifery-related topics such as:
- Midwifery Education
- Midwifery Regulation
- Midwifery Practice and Models of Care
- Strengthening Midwives’ Associations
- Midwifery Leadership
- Health System Design and Policy
- Gender Equity
- Climate Change
- Humanitarian Issues
- Other topic of interest for midwives
