We walk for midwives, we walk for women and families, we walk for 1 million more midwives in the world

The Department of Midwifery, School of Health Sciences of the International Hellenic University, invites you to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

The event includes a symbolic walk dedicated to midwives, midwifery students, recipients of midwifery care, as well as all those who support and collaborate with their work.

📍 Meeting point: Royal Theatre of Thessaloniki (seafront promenade)

At the meeting point, an awareness activity will take place highlighting the vital role of midwives in the care of women, newborns, families, and society, as well as the need to support their work.

🕑 At 14:00, a symbolic walk will follow along the seafront towards the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, where the event will conclude.

The walk serves as a reminder of the importance of self-care and well-being for everyone, especially for midwives.

Undergraduate and PhD students of the Midwifery Department (IHU)
Academic staff and collaborators
Any citizen who supports the work of midwives
Parents and children, as recipients of midwifery care
