34th ICM Triennial Congress
The 34th ICM Triennial Congress will take place from 14–18 June 2026 in the vibrant city of Lisbon, Portugal, co-hosted by the Associação Portuguesa Dos Enfermeiros Obstetras (APEO). Known for its rich history, stunning architecture, cultural attractions, and bustling nightlife, Lisbon is the perfect backdrop for this global gathering of midwives.
This year’s theme, One Million More Midwives, highlights the critical global need for at least one million additional midwives to meet the sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, and adolescent health (SRMNAH) needs worldwide. Together, we’ll explore how one million more midwives could prevent maternal and newborn deaths, improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, and transform health systems. It also underscores the importance of midwives in fostering gender equality and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Congress will feature keynote sessions, panels, workshops, and discussions on critical topics, as well as opportunities to share knowledge and global advancements in research, education, regulation, and practice. Participants will also have the chance to connect with colleagues, learn from global leaders in midwifery, and advocate for the resources and recognition needed to meet the global demand for midwives.
We invite midwives, students, SRMNAH partners, and policymakers to join us in Lisbon in June 2026 to advance this critical conversation.
