It has been six years since our last in-person global gathering, and we were honoured and excited to have come together with you for that momentous occasion! The theme for the 2023 Congress, “Together again: from evidence to reality,” reflects our excitement for face-to-face engagement and pointed to the work we undertook to implement evidence demonstrating the investment case for midwives. While this work had to happen within our global community of midwives, it is also integral that governments, health leadership, and women and people everywhere stood alongside midwives in their efforts to attain professional autonomy and decision-making authority at the country level.
