Midwives and nurses are often undervalued, underpaid, and underrepresented in policy discussions and decisions. Despite this, they continue to save lives and lead and organise for change in health systems.

To highlight the life-saving work of midwives and nurses, and to mark Year of The Midwife and the Nurse (#YONM), Seed Global Health is spotlighting members of our community and their experiences on the frontlines of COVID-19.

As part of this initiative, Young Midwife Leader, Harriet Nayiga (pictured here) was interviewed about the challenges that midwives in Uganda face amidst this pandemic, as well as her efforts to improve adolescent health.
