PMNCH Statement on Afghanistan

ICM
13 September 2021

During times of political upheaval and conflict situations, women and girls are at a much higher risk of violence, sexual violence, displacement, poverty, and even death. Midwives, as defenders of women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights are particularly vulnerable to human rights abuses.

The ICM supports and amplifies the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health’s (PMNCH) statement on the current situation in Afghanistan, echoing their call for the global community to commit to urgent and unwavering protection of women, children and adolescents.
