(L-R) Dr. Axel Hoffman, Deputy Head of Department Education & Training Swiss TPH; Sally Pairman, ICM Chief Executive and Dr. Leah Bohle, SRH Unit Swiss TPH at the handing over ceremony held at ICM Head Office
MEAP establishes guidelines for midwifery programmes that certify whether, and to what extent, they meet the standards, or identifying areas where the standards can be improved. ICM MEAP is a process through which pre-service midwifery education programmes can be assessed to see whether or not they meet the ICM's Global Standards for Midwifery Education.
With this programme ICM will accelerate the process of harmonsing midwifery education globally, including the competency standards of new graduate midwives and thereby improving the quality if midwifery care for women, their newborns and their families.
ICM will be disseminating information about the ICM MEAP in coming weeks and identifying midwifery education programmes for the initial implementation.
