This study by EQUAL assesses the quality of midwifery pre-service education and examines how different approaches to midwifery workforce development work in low-income, conflict-affected countries. Focused on sites in Nigeria and Somalia, the research follows midwifery students and graduates over several years to better understand the factors that affect their participation, retention, performance and wellbeing. It also documents their experiences working in conflict-affected communities, including changes in responsibilities, professional pressures, support networks and the impact of insecurity on their work.
