Sergio Beneitez

Governance Coordinator

Sergio Beneitez joined ICM in 2024. As Governance Coordinator, he ensures the effective operation of ICM’s governance structure by coordinating the work of the Board, Committees, Council, and Independent Election Committee, managing elections, and developing governance resources that promote best practice and continuous improvement. He also leads Governance Strengthening for Member Associations, contributing to ICM’s mission to advance and strengthen midwifery worldwide.

Before joining ICM, Sergio interned with the Dutch Relief Alliance, where he supported the Board of Directors and several working groups, including Early Warning and Innovation. Through this and other experiences, he has developed expertise in facilitating high-level strategic discussions, supporting decision-making processes, and fostering collaboration across diverse teams.

Sergio holds a master’s degree in International Politics from Leiden University, where he graduated cum laude, and is completing a second master’s in Crisis and Security Management: War and Peace Studies at the same institution.
