Strengthening Leadership Workshop
ICM held a workshop on how to use Twinning, Leadership and Mentoring as a way of strengthening Midwives Associations based on the results from the MACAT. It was organized by the "Investing in Midwives Programe" in Ghana. 36 participants from 12 countries (Ghana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Djibouti, Pakistan, Nigeria, Zambia, Nepal, Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone) as well as participants from the American College of Midwives attended.
The participants have enjoyed the sessions on leadership. They were taken through the process of administrating the Member Association Capacity Assessment Tool (MACAT), how to interpret the results and how to use those results to strengthen leadership in the association. The participants were also taken through the process of using the MACAT results to choose a twinning partner and how to use mentoring approaches in the associations for association-to-association mentoring and for individual-to-individual mentoring.
The workshop is ending tomorrow. Participants have already expressed that the information received so far is going to be helpful in their associations.
