President: Barbara Stocker Klaberer
The Swiss Confederation of Midwives (SHV) is the oldest Confederation of women in Switzerland. It was founded in 1894 and has 2,700 members. The confederation represents employed and independent midwives and promotes the national standardization of midwifery.
Our aims are to create the best conditions for employed and independent midwives, to take part in political discussion and to monitor when laws of health are subject to revision. We support, represent and strive to strengthen a modern education for midwives and, for the family and children, friendly midwifery. The Confederation has a modern structure, is active in political issues and works together with other professional health services and health professional groups.
