Consultation Stakeholder for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Guidance Development
To support the implementation of ICM’s Global Standards for Midwifery Education, The International Confederation of Midwives is developing guidance on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in midwifery education.
RPL is defined by ICM as: procedures or processes whereby students are assessed and may be given recognition for past learning and experience relevant to current enrolment in a midwifery programme.
It is a process which can reduce the global deficit in midwife numbers and increase access to midwives for women and newborns in underserved and marginalised communities.
More details about RPL can be found in the recording of the recent (11 Dec) webinar hosted by the Alliance to Improve Midwifery Education.
