As we gear up to commemorate the International Day of the Midwife (IDM) on 05 May, we are thrilled to announce the launch of this year's IDM toolkit! 

Midwives deliver safe and environmentally sustainable health services and are first responders when climate disasters hit. For this reason, the theme for this year’s International Day of the Midwife (IDM), is Midwives: A Vital Climate Solution.

Midwives are health providers, defenders of sexual and reproductive health and key players in designing resilient health systems capable of withstanding the worst impacts of a warming world. This toolkit can help advocacy efforts supporting midwifery during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP).

Investing in continuity of midwife care is key to lowering carbon emissions. This statement, signed by MAs from around the world, reiterates that midwives are critical to reducing the carbon footprint of reproductive and maternal health services.
