Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer your knowledge and experience to make a difference in a varied and rewarding role? If yes, then we would love to hear from you. We are seeking a Treasurer with experience of financial management and governance and an interest in women’s maternal health, to join our Board. This opportunity is worked remotely and open to international applicants.  

Who We’re Looking For 

We welcome interest from anyone with the appropriate skills to strengthen our Board. The ideal candidate would need to make a commitment to ICM, have strategic vision, good independent judgement, and an ability to think creatively.

ICM’s mission is to strengthen Midwives Associations and to advance the profession of midwifery globally by promoting autonomous midwives as the most appropriate caregivers for childbearing woman and in keeping birth normal, in order to enhance the reproductive health of women, and the health of their newborn and their families.  

The Role 

The Treasurer works with the President of the Board to enact the decisions of the ICM Council and steer the Board in meeting its strategic and governance responsibilities. The Treasurer has oversight of the financial health of ICM advising on financial reporting, financial risk management and audit matters. 

The Treasurer will chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, and provide independent critical analysis of ICMs accounts.  

The term of office is three years with the possibility of a second term. You will be expected to travel to The Hague once a year for a face to face Board meeting; and attend the Triennial Congress being held in Bali in June 2023, where the Board is officially appointed. 

The role of the ICM Treasurer is a voluntary role, and unpaid (expenses will be covered); in addition, an honorarium of 4000€ may be paid annually.  

About You 

Suitable candidates must: 

  • Have knowledge of financial management as an accountant, senior manager, or finance professional. 
  • Hold a recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA/CIPFA/ACCA/ACA). 
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the role of governance in a middle/large organisation working closely with the Leadership Team.
  • Demonstrate a strong and visible passion and commitment to ICMs vision and mission
  • Have high standards of integrity, honesty, transparency, reliability, and humility
