CORDAID is a Dutch Development Agency, The Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development Aid, operating worldwide. Cordaid fights poverty and exclusion in fragile states and areas of conflict and extreme inequality, raising funds in the Netherlands as well as internationally in order to stand up for the world's poorest and most marginalized communities.

Cordaid supports the work of hundreds of partner organisations in about 20 developing countries in Africa and Asia. ICM worked with Cordaid in Ugnada in May 2012 Strengthening Midwifery in sub-Saharan Africa through Education.

"We believe that every life counts and that we have a global responsibility to reach ‘health and care for all’. In our work, we particularly aim to improve health and care systems in fragile states and in remote areas, where government health systems are lacking or do not function adequately......Women in reproductive age-groups are particularly vulnerable because of risks related to pregnancy and childbirth. In many developing countries maternal mortality remains unacceptably high in order to increase access to health care and basic services."
