ICM President Frances Day-Stirk reinforced the indispensable role of midwives at the panel discussion Born Too Soon at the Congress. Frances said promoting autonomous midwives as the most appropriate caregivers for childbearing women and their newborn, and quality midwifery services, was the most effective means of achieving MDGs 4 & 5 for child survival and maternal health. ICM-FIGO Joint Statement on Misoprostol for PPH Treatment
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the International Confederation of Midwives and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics are pleased to launch a joint statement on the use of misoprostol for the treatment of postpartum haemorrhage.
This statement sets out the latest evidence on the use of misoprostol in low resource settings and calls all midwives and obstetricians to take concrete action in support of a woman’s right to access safe delivery services.
