Event on cooperation between stakeholders in birth care

Two of ICM's Technical Midwife Advisers attended the Network Birthcare Northwest Netherlands meeting on Tuesday 14th of May. The network aims to increase cooperation between all professional stakeholders in birth care (from primary to intensive care level).This was the kick off meeting for the network and was focused around the following priorities:

• Patient safety
• Patient participation
• Prevention of premature birth

ICM's stand was one of four stands at the event. The two other stands were: Midwives and Kraamzorgs (maternity nurse) supporting WRA, Midwifery ScienceInstitutes sharing information on their research, including research into improving team work in maternity care (Locomotive study)

The stand was an opportunity to share information on ICM and the 2014 Congress with midwives, medical professionals, other maternal health workers and the public and provided an opportunity for networking.

Network Meeting Presentations
The presentations provided insight into some of the current initiatives in maternal and newborn health in the Netherlands. Presentations included:
• Birth care from a public perspective
• CenteringPregnancy initiative and new developments
• Power of the maternity care
• A case study of preterm birth
• Premature birth, background information and future prevention
• Working together in Obstetrics

The event was a success in regards to learning about maternal and newborn health in the Netherlands and also provide an opportunity to network with midwives and others working in maternal health in the Netherlands.
