WATCH LIVE! Midwives' Voices, Midwives' Realities report launch and discussions
The first-ever, ground breaking global survey of midwives conducted by International Confederation of Midwives, World Health Organisation and White Ribbon Alliance. To celebrate the US launch of Midwives' Voices, Midwives' Realities, we encourage you to share key findings from the report and your own knowlegde and experiences about midwives and midwifery.
Every year, an estimated 3030,000 women die while giving birth and 2.7 million newborns die during the first 28 days of life, many from preventable causes. Midwifery - the skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate care provided throughout pregnancy and childbirth - plays a vital role in preventing these deaths, but only when it is of quality and provided by midwives educated and regulated to international standards.
